Advanced Placement® (AP)

Advanced Placement® (AP) at Seoul International Academy

The Advanced Placement Program (AP) is a collaborative community comprising AP teachers and students, states, districts, schools, colleges, and universities. They are committed to developing college-level knowledge and skills through daily work. College Board has been delivering excellent education to millions of students across the country since 1955.

With the Advanced Placement Program® (AP), high school students who are academically prepared and willing can pursue college-level studies while still in high school.

The AP Program offers college-level courses that high schools can choose to offer, and corresponding exams that are administered once a year.

Fast Facts

  • Seven subject categories contain a total of 38 AP courses.
  • AP courses are designed to resemble introductory college courses in the same subject, and you can discover more about how they are created.
  • At the end of each AP course, students are required to take a standardized college-level test known as the AP Exam.
  • AP Exams are administered globally in May of every year at various testing locations.
  • Schools need to receive authorization from the AP Course Audit to offer approved AP courses and use the AP designation.
  • Students have access to a team of qualified professionals and advisors with expertise at all academic levels. This is a unique feature that is not easily found in traditional schools, which is why we offer it at Seoul International Academy.

Benefits

Enrolling in AP courses and taking AP exams can benefit students in several ways. Firstly, having AP courses listed on their transcript demonstrates that they have pushed themselves to take the most challenging courses offered. Additionally, achieving high scores on AP exams demonstrates their readiness for college-level coursework. Secondly, successful performance on AP exams can enable students to earn college credit or waive introductory courses at a wide range of colleges and universities in the United States and over 100 other countries. Interested students can look up college credit policies for AP exams to learn more.
